JI Restaurant: Enjoy Delicious Brunch with Stunning Beach Views in Bali

Our Exciting Visit to Ji Restaurant

On our first day in Canggu, we were thrilled to visit Ji Restaurant for their renowned Sunday brunch and to learn about the story behind this unique establishment. Located next to Tugu Hotel, Ji is a Japanese contemporary fusion restaurant set in a beautifully reconstructed 312-year-old temple, offering stunning 180-degree ocean views. This historic temple, originally from 1706, was rescued from Java by its founder and designer, Anhar Setjadibrata.

Captivating Surroundings

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the blend of rich history and modern elegance. After exploring the temple's intricate design, we ascended to the terrace with breathtaking sea views. The terrace was adorned with Balinese sculptures and cozy lounge areas, making it an ideal spot for drinks and a popular destination for sunset happy hours.

Extensive Sunday Brunch Menu

The Sunday brunch menu was extensive, catering to both meat lovers and plant-based diners. Ji is particularly known for its sushi and impressive selection of Japanese-inspired cocktails. We settled at a bar table with an incredible view of the waves and windsurfers.

Delicious Dishes We Tried

To start, we chose a couple of refreshing salads: pear and lychee, and cranberry spinach. Both were fresh and flavorful. Our meal included a variety of dishes such as vegetable tempura, hibachi vegetables, red snapper mango salad poke, toro chanan (Japanese fried rice with tuna tartare), and several sushi rolls.

Highlights of Our Meal

Highlights from our meal included the Japanese eggs Benedict featuring white mirin and shimeji mushrooms topped with classic hollandaise sauce. My personal favorite was the vegan pumpkin shiitake miso ramen, which had a uniquely delicious flavor. I also recommend the vegetarian quinoa roll. Patrick savored multiple sushi rolls including the Hanako with eel, the Dragon of Ji, tuna sashimi, and red snapper mango salad poke—all of which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Sweet Endings: Our Desserts

For dessert, we highly recommend the torch ginger flower sorbet and banana flambé to cap off our memorable meal by the sea.

Conclusion: A Must-Visit in Canggu

If you're in Canggu and looking for the perfect dining spot that caters to all dietary preferences, Ji Restaurant is a must-visit! Enjoy the gorgeous views and signature cocktails—you won't be disappointed.
