Arrival in Ubud
Our adventure took us through sacred temples, cliffside trails, breathtaking beaches, and lush rice paddies. After a long day of travel, we arrived in Ubud and settled into our charming Balinese cottage. With ten packed days ahead, we decided to take a night for ourselves, simply holding each other under the moonlight streaming through the window.

Seeking Relaxation
After bouncing around on a motorbike along the rugged roads of Nusa Penida, my back was sore. Despite this discomfort, I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. Although I had intended to participate in daily yoga practices in Ubud, my low back pain had other plans. We both craved some serious TLC, leading me to research the best spa in Ubud, which I believe is Karsa Spa.

The Ambiance of Karsa Spa
Nestled on the sacred Campuhan Ridge, Karsa Spa is a serene escape from the busyness of Ubud. The ambiance instantly refreshed us as we drove past gleaming lily pads and vibrant lotus flowers. Upon arrival, a kind staff member introduced us to their eco-friendly philosophy and the organic Ayurvedic products used, including local brand Nadi’s Herbal Products.

Commitment to Sustainability
Karsa Spa prioritizes sustainability by utilizing bio septic tank systems that protect the surrounding rice fields. They employ eco-friendly soaps and actively promote recycling and waste disposal practices within their community.

The Treatment Experience
After checking in, we walked through the stunning grounds to our outdoor treatment room. The energy felt reminiscent of a Balinese temple—tranquil and sacred—with statues of deities lining our path. We were amazed by the treatment room's ambiance, surrounded by lush greenery, adorned with traditional Balinese artwork, featuring a koi pond, a stone outdoor shower, and a spacious two-person bathtub. It was the largest and most beautiful treatment room we had ever encountered.

Exceptional Massage
As soon as my therapist began the massage, I felt something extraordinary. Her calm presence was perfectly attuned to my energy. She took her time locating my tight spots and skillfully eased into them, methodically relieving my back of any knots. Her unique massage style flowed gracefully along my back, applying just the right amount of pressure to dissolve tension. Once she reached my legs, she transitioned to an acupressure technique that was both heavenly and healing. I can confidently say this experience surpassed all others I’ve had.
Pampering Treatments
Following our massage, we indulged in a traditional Indonesian Lulur exfoliation scrub made from turmeric, coriander, red rice, evgania, and essential oils. This was complemented by a clay body mask designed to tone and moisturize our skin—truly magical pampering after two months on the road. My skin felt completely rejuvenated.

Romantic Flower Bath
While we enjoyed our scrub and clay mask, our therapists prepared a hot bath filled with flower petals and served us hot tea. Once everything was set, they provided privacy so we could shower off and enjoy a romantic soak together. It was an unforgettable experience—cloud nine encapsulated.

Dining at Karsa Kafe
After our treatments, we dined at Karsa Kafe, where unique private tables overlook expansive koi ponds. We savored traditional Balinese dishes while taking in the breathtaking scenery—an ideal conclusion to our one-of-a-kind spa day.

Final Thoughts
We cannot recommend Karsa Spa enough for anyone visiting Ubud. If you seek healing bodywork, massage, or reiki, look no further. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for their hospitality and generosity—we eagerly anticipate our next visit.
Much love, Kahala and Patrick
